The Flying Machine has been a long term dream and project of mine since flying hang gliders. The idea was to construct a safe, low & slow flying craft that would enable anyone to enjoy the incredible experience of flight without having to go through any long term flight training, as is required with other forms of flight.
Having experience with giant balloons the fastest solution was to construct an ultralight airship we called “The Flying Machine.”
Together with my friend and co-developer Richard McAdam we set out a plan of development.
After many months of prototyping and testing, the Flying Machine eventually got to the point of free flight and the goal was achieved.
The Flying Machine is a powered aerostat filled with safe Helium gas and balanced for the pilot’s weight , this ensures that the craft is always coming down to the ground and the use of the motor sends the air down past the tail vector fin which counteracts gravity and so you fly!
The Flying Machine is completely maneuverable in all directions and is a joy to fly, as demonstrated in the video above.
There are still designs to be tweaked, dreams and future goals to be implemented but the practical prototype concept is proof that the flying machine works and is--- most importantly AWESOME FUN!
